Hello families and students. My name is Bill Charlton and I'm the proud principal of Riverdale Elementary School. We want to make sure that you understand that here at Riverdale, not only are we interested in the academic well-being of your students, but also the social, emotional, and mental well being of all our students and staff. Next, you're gonna see some information about our student services staff here at Riverdale and their whole purpose is to support the social emotional well being of our students. Hello Royals! This is Ms. Moran-Brown, best known as Ms. Brown, and I am the school counselor here at Riverdale Elementary School. A part of my role is to provide classroom guidance lessons, work with students in small group, and also work with students individually. I also help provide community resources to families and students, so if you are ever in need of any additional support, please let me know and I'd be happy to assist you. I'm located here on campus daily. You can reach me by coming in to make an appointment, calling me on the phone, or sending me an email. The school's number here at Riverdale is (407) 737-1400. Hi! I'm Fransheska Portalatin-Cruz, I'm a school psychologist proudly serving Riverdale Elementary. My focus is helping students' academic performance and social-emotional well-being by creating safe and supportive learning environments. This includes:
Collaboration and consultation with school staff, parents, and other mental health professionals in the district. Attending special education meetings for students with IEP's or 504 plans.
Completing psychoeducational evaluations, testing students for the Gifted program, and attending MTSS meetings.
When requested, I can provide staff and parent trainings on a variety of topics, and I also support Riverdale Elementary - Social Emotional Learning and Leadership initiatives.
I am also on the district crisis response team when unfortunate situations arise.
Hello! I'm Heather Goergen and I'm the mental health social worker for Riverdale. I'm here each week on Thursdays and I'm able to provide individual and group counseling to students based on referrals from the guidance counselor, Mrs. Brown.
Hello everyone! My name is Astride Hill and I am the district School Social Worker for Riverdale Elementary School. This school year, I will be serving Riverdale Elementary School on Tuesdays. As the social worker, some of my roles include:
Understanding and reducing carriers for students and families in order to promote, support, and enhance students' well-being, academic, and social success
Serve as the liaison between the school, home, and community
Assisting with and completing exceptional student education evaluations
Connecting families with resources offered in the community
Attendance and truancy needs
Mental health and counseling support.
